About Veo 3.1

Veo 3.1 is Google's video model, developed by Google DeepMind as an update to Veo 3. It takes a text prompt or a start image and can generate sound together with the picture.

Clips are 4, 6 or 8 seconds long in 16:9 or 9:16, at 720p, 1080p or 4K. Sound is optional and roughly doubles the price of a clip, so leave it off when you plan to add your own music in an editor.

Veo 3.1 suits ads, short films and social clips where realistic lighting and camera work matter. If you want a cheaper draft first, Veo 3.1 Lite runs the same family at a lower price from a start image.

Frequently asked questions

Is Veo 3.1 free?

Not on the free credits alone. New accounts get 50 free credits, and the cheapest Veo 3.1 run, a 4-second clip at 720p, costs 150 credits, so generating with it needs a credit pack or a plan. Opening the studio and setting up a run is free, and the free credits cover the image models and lower-cost video models. Results never carry a watermark, free credits included.

How long can Veo 3.1 videos be?

Veo 3.1 clips are 4, 6 or 8 seconds long. Pick the length in the studio before you generate. Longer clips cost more, and the exact price is on the Generate button before you spend anything.

Can Veo 3.1 turn an image into a video?

Yes. Veo 3.1 works from a text prompt alone or from a start image you upload.

Does Veo 3.1 generate sound?

Yes, when you turn sound on in the studio. It is off by default because it raises the price: a 4-second clip at 720p costs 150 credits silent and 290 with sound.
