How to Use Seedance 2.5: Inputs, Lengths, Sound and Price

How to use Seedance 2.5: text or a start image, an optional end frame, 4 to 10 second clips with sound. Steps, prompts and what each clip costs.

· 5 min read · Video studio

A clip from Seedance 2.0, the model before Seedance 2.5, from one text prompt: "Drone pull-out rising from a lone figure walking a knife-edge dune ridge." The same prompt runs on Seedance 2.5 once you switch the Model; its own clips are on the Seedance 2.5 model page.

To use Seedance 2.5, open the Video studio, click the Model card and choose Seedance 2.5, write the shot in the Prompt (or add a start frame), pick the shape, Resolution and Duration, and press Generate Video. Sound comes with every clip and is part of the price, so there is no Sound switch to set. A 5 second clip costs 210 credits at 480p and 430 at 720p.

Seedance 2.5 is the newest Seedance from ByteDance. This guide covers what it takes as input, the lengths and sizes it runs, how to write a prompt it follows, and when a cheaper model is the better pick for drafts.

What you need

  • An idea for one shot, or a picture to start from. A clear, well lit image gives the cleanest motion.
  • If the start frame shows a real person, use your own photo or one you have that person's permission to animate.
  • A Kinoseed account and some credits. Video starts with a plan; the $10 Basic plan (500 credits a month) covers a 5 second clip at 480p (210 credits).

Step by step

  1. 1

Open the Video studio and choose Seedance 2.5

The Model card at the top shows Seedance 1.5 Pro, the default. Click it and pick Seedance 2.5; the card then shows its name. You can also open the studio with it already selected from the Seedance 2.5 model page.

  2. 2

Start from text, or add a start and an end frame

Seedance 2.5 works from the Prompt alone. To fix the first shot, drop a picture into Start frame under Start & end frames; to fix the last shot too, add an End frame and the clip moves between the two. A start frame does not change the price: 430 credits for 5 seconds at 720p, the same as from text.

  3. 3

Pick the shape, Resolution and Duration

Choose 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 with the shape buttons, 480p, 720p or 1080p under Resolution, and 4, 5, 8 or 10 seconds under Duration. Use 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok. The price moves with all three, and it is on the button before you press it.

  4. 4

Write the Prompt as one shot

Say who or what is in the frame, the one thing that happens, how the camera moves and what the light looks like. Because sound is generated with the picture, you can also say what should be heard: rain on a window, a crowd, waves. Keep it to one action per clip.

  5. 5

Press Generate Video, then run the keeper at a higher Resolution

Check the idea at 480p first, then run the version you want at 720p or 1080p. The clip lands in the feed beside the controls, ready to download. There is no watermark, and a failed run is refunded automatically.

Prompts to copy

Paste any of these into Video studio as a starting point, then change the details to fit your photo.

Product pour, with sound

Macro shot of cold brew coffee poured over ice in a clear glass on a dark wooden table, the ice cracking and settling. Slow push in. Soft window light from the left. Sound of the pour and the ice.

Vertical street shot

A cyclist rides through a narrow old town street at golden hour, past cafe tables and hanging lamps. Tracking shot alongside at the same speed. Warm light, gentle film grain. Distant chatter and a bicycle bell.

From a start frame

The camera slowly orbits the product while soft light sweeps across the label. Nothing else moves. A quiet low hum.

What Seedance 2.5 costs

Prices are per clip, sound included. 5 seconds: 210 credits at 480p, 430 at 720p and 1,100 at 1080p. The shortest run, 4 seconds at 480p, is 170 credits; the longest, 10 seconds at 1080p, is 2,150.

For comparison at 5 seconds and 720p: Seedance 2.0 costs 280 credits, Wan 3.0 95 with sound included, and Seedance 1.5 Pro, the studio default, 25 without sound. See pricing for the plans.

When to use Seedance 2.5, and when not

Seedance 2.5 fits the final version of a shot: a product clip, a scene with sound, a vertical ad. For drafts it costs more than it needs to, so test the prompt on Wan 3.0 or on Seedance 2.5 at 480p and switch up once the idea works.

If you need several reference pictures in one shot, such as a character and a product together, use Multi Reference, which runs on Seedance 2.0. Seedance 2.5 takes a start and an end frame, not a set of references.

Tips for better results

  • Draft at 480p. The same 5 second clip costs 210 credits at 480p and 1,100 at 1080p.
  • Describe the sound you want in a few words. Without it, the model picks something that fits the picture.
  • Use an End frame when the clip has to land on a specific shot, such as a product facing the camera with its label readable.
  • One action and one camera move per clip. Two moves in a short clip tend to blur into a wobble.
  • For camera words that models follow, see how to write AI video prompts with camera moves.

Frequently asked questions

What can Seedance 2.5 take as input?

A text prompt alone, or a start frame with an optional end frame. Clips are 4, 5, 8 or 10 seconds long in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, at 480p, 720p or 1080p.

Does Seedance 2.5 make sound?

Yes. Sound is generated with the picture and is part of the price on every clip, so there is no separate audio charge and no switch to turn it off.

How much does Seedance 2.5 cost?

Video starts with a plan. A 5 second clip costs 210 credits at 480p, 430 at 720p and 1,100 at 1080p. The exact price is on the Generate Video button before you run it.

Is Seedance 2.5 better than Seedance 2.0?

Seedance 2.5 is the newer model and costs more per clip (430 against 280 credits for 5 seconds at 720p). Seedance 2.0 also runs at 4K and takes several reference pictures in Multi Reference, so it is still the one for those jobs.

Can I animate a photo of a person?

Yes, from a start frame. Use your own photo, or one you have the person's permission to use, and do not use it to make someone appear to say or do something they did not.

Try it on your own shot.
