About GPT Image 2.5

GPT Image 2.5 is OpenAI's image model, the update to GPT Image 2. It makes an image from a text prompt and edits photos you add.

Text and layout are its strength: posters, sale banners, menus and anything with words that have to be spelled right.

It costs more per image than the FLUX models, so it fits the graphics that need the words to be correct.

GPT Image 2.5 price per run

Prices are in credits and come from the same quote the studio and the API charge. The exact price is on the Generate button before you spend anything, and a failed generation is refunded automatically. The dollar figure next to each price is at the standard rate of $0.02 a credit.

One image in dollars

The cheapest GPT Image 2.5 run is 25 credits. What that comes to depends on how you buy credits; the Studio plan sells them cheapest.

The smallest plan is the $10 Basic plan (500 credits a month).

GPT Image 2.5 API

Run GPT Image 2.5 from your own code with one POST to /api/v1/images and model id gpt-image-2-5. This request costs 25 credits ($0.50). Create a key on your account page and replace the placeholder.

Price any other settings first with POST /quote, which is free. Images usually finish within one wait on the job. Every field is described in the images docs.

GPT Image 2.5 from an AI agent (MCP)

Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP clients run the same request as the generate_image tool. Add the server once:
